About Sand Casting
Sand casting is preferentially used for aluminum castings, mainly because sand casting has a lower cost, simpler production process, and shorter production cycle than other casting methods.
When the wet mold can not meet the requirements, consider using a clay sand surface dry sand mold, dry sand mold, or other sand molds.
The casting method of aluminum castings should be compatible with the production batch. Low-pressure casting, die casting, centrifugal casting, and other casting methods are only suitable for mass production due to the expensive equipment and molds. Aluminum castings can be cast in one piece or in batches.
It is necessary to increase the compactness of the large sand and reduce the concession of the molding sand. This can minimize the sparse structure of the casting caused by the thermal expansion of the casting to obtain a casting with a dense internal structure.
It can also improve the mechanical properties of the casting. It can greatly reduce the mechanical contamination caused by high-temperature erosion and improve the surface finish of castings.
Excessive compaction of the molding sand will affect the permeability of the molding sand. Therefore, the moisture content of the molding sand must be reduced without affecting the strength of the molding sand.
This can reduce the gas generated by high casting and prevent the generation of air holes. If the temperature is too high, the internal structure of the casting will be loose, and if it is too low, cold insulation and slag will be generated. It is better to place a filter at the gate to prevent impurities from entering the casting.
